The Narwhal, aka "Ocean Unicorn" is in the Monodontidae family along with Beluga Whales. They like the cold waters of the Arctic. I wonder if early explorers saw these and thought they were mermaids? Even today, in my studio, people think I made this animal up...I did not (though I took artistic liberties in my painting).
